The Oberoi New Delhi

Zakir Hussain Marg's precision masterpiece — where the Oberoi standard was defined

The Oberoi New Delhi opened in 1965 as the showcase of M.S. Oberoi's hospitality vision — the property that would define the Oberoi standard globally. The hotel was completely reimagined and rebuilt in the 2010s, emerging as a contemporary luxury property that maintained the Oberoi service DNA while modernising every physical element.

The reconstruction was remarkable: the entire hotel was demolished and rebuilt from the ground up, with guest rooms reduced in number but increased dramatically in size. The result was one of the most spacious luxury hotels in India — rooms averaging over 500 square feet, with technology integration and design standards that set new benchmarks for the Indian market.

Threesixty° — the all-day dining restaurant — operates four open kitchens visible from every table. Omya — the Indian fine-dining restaurant — applies contemporary technique to traditional preparations. Cirrus 9 — the rooftop bar — offers views across Delhi's skyline.

We built this hotel in 1965. We demolished it and built it again. We will demolish it and rebuild it again if that is what perfection requires.

The Experience

The lobby is calm, spacious, and flooded with natural light — a counterpoint to the ornate lobbies of heritage competitors. The service begins before you ask. The room is larger than expected. The design is modern without being cold. The Oberoi's New Delhi property is the standard against which the brand measures everything else.
